Twisty and Fidget

Ok, I got my photographer on the case and can now show you my two FOs.

The first one is a little neckwarmer. I started this while I was procrastinating over the seaming (not that there is much) on Twisty. It is a very quick little knit and the buttons I got from John Lewis are perfect.

Pattern: The Fidget by Robin Dodge
Length: 23cm
Yarn: Garnstudio Drops Classic Alpaca - colour 3806m - 2 strands held together - used under two balls.
Needles: 5.5mm KnitPro Harmony circulars
Mods: none

The second FO is my Drops jumper/vest thing. Yesterday evening was very warm and it was not comfortable wearing this for the photos. It is going to be lovely and toasty for the winter for work though.

Pattern: Drops 115-24
Size: small
Yarn: Garnstudio Drops Eskimo - colour 49m - 7.2 balls (the pattern says 6 but this is incorrect)
Needles: 9mm KnitPro Harmony circulars
Mods: none

I decided not to go for the Titania top in the previous post, but instead have made a start on another Drops pattern (there are hundreds of them and they are ALL free). This one is pattern number 100-2 which I am calling Red Rib. Strangely, looking at the measurements, I need to make a large in this design(?). I don't mind if it is a bit big in the end, it will be a great snuggly cardi for the winter, as it buttons right up to the neck.

I am using DK yarn rather than aran, so have had to swatch and go up a couple of needle sizes.

Very cute knits - I can imagine that vest would be so snuggly - something nice to look forward to in winter :)

Oh and entrelac made no sense to me either to start with, I blindly followed the instructions and it worked! One of those things that looks way harder than it is really.

Hello there. Fidget looks really good. So does the cabled vest. I like the cable design down the front. Really interesting details.
A word of caution about the cardigan design. I started knitting this some time ago. It is a really nice design idea, but what put me off was the fact that the button border and buttonhole borders are knitted at the same time as the main body of the design. This sounds great, but I found the buttonholes coming out really huge when I knitted it up. Could I suggest either reinforcing the buttonholes with handstitching when the knitting is completed or finding some other method of fastening the cardigan.
In the end it put me off so much that I decided to rip the entire thing back. I used the yarn to knit my red aran cardigan to a Sirdar design. I shall go back to the Drops design, but will probably modify the front bands.

Beautiful work! These two turned out really well. I think your turn away from the Titania top is a good idea - not as flattering as it could be on the model. Maybe if the lace panel was positioned higher?

Your photographer does nice work, too. :~)

Very cute projects - I LOVE the little cap sleeves on the top, and that fidget pattern is the perfect project for some yarn i have been saving for too long!

Lovely blog - I like the mix of knitting and other interests. The book reviews are a great touch!
