Casting off for a no knitting week!! WHAT?????

I have just this minute cast off my Karisma/Scottish Tweed socks. I think they look fine in the two different yarns. (Edited 3.5.07 to add photo)

I am now going to do the unthinkable and NOT KNIT FOR A WEEK. Hopefully this will give my poor hands a rest as I am having problems with my thumb joint on my left hand. I think it is some kind of RSI. It does improve overnight so the rest should do it good. I am trying all kinds of things on it - glucosamine gel, ibuprofen gel, emu oil - all to no avail so a rest is definitely the answer. I hope I can last without getting withdrawal symptoms!!

Sorry about the pain :( I hope it gets better soon.

By the way, I just saw this and think you might like it? Just the little preview is making me think it's a definite for my list.

But you know how crap I am at KALing ;) I don't want to buy any new yarn for a bit so if you can wait for a little while? Could we plan to have a go in the Summer or something?

Lovely socks!

Sorry you've been suffering. I get a similar thing from time to time and rest does indeed fix it. Frustrating though!

I'm pleased with these socks because I didn't follow a pattern as such. Just for the heel, but I think I've got the hang of the toe-up gusset heel now, and think I have the formula for any number of stitches. We shall see when I attempt my next pair!!

The socks are grand, they make a lovely pair considering they're different yarns! Well done on no pattern, very clever stuff.

The socks look great! Had you also considered making one sock of each type of yarn for the pair? Just askin'... ;)

Sorry about the pain, too. I have some ideas as to how you can pass the time, but I'll have to email--so many thoughts, so little time!

The socks look great in the contrasting yarns!

As for your RSI, I get odd hand/elbow aches which I know are down to knitting. Have you tried regularly mixing up the type of knitting you do - slower knitting (eg lace) with faster knitting (eg stocking st), rather than stopping altogether (horrors!). I think then that you would be using slightly different hand/elbow actions... just a thought.

Hope you gets lots of rest this week and that your hand is better soon.
